It's all about the glass for me -- I pull out a sheet of glass and hold it up to the light, looking for the fire within. The fire is a glow in the glass that makes the difference between a beautiful piece and an extraordinary piece.
My main passion is working with stained glass, and glass as an art form itself. I don’t mean blowing glass or fusing glass which is beautiful in it’s on way but I am talking about painting with glass. Doing stained glass lamps you try to mimic nature, but I like to go beyond that and actually raise glass pieces to give a 3D, more alive look to my works.
I love nature and all it has to offer. When I come upon something that moves my mind or my heart I feel those become my Inspired Works. I take them home and try to display them in a way that everyone can hopefully see the beauty in them that I do. Maybe I just want to stop you in your tracks and say I never thought of those as art.
Decorative Arts has always been a fun way to express the moment, the world, or simply how I feel. My home furnishings, although decorative in many ways, are functional as well. I love the sleek modern style to some extent but always love the raw power of nature. I call my aesthetic MODERN ARCHAIC.
I want things to be beautiful but they must be functional as well. That is why I try to use stone, wood or glass in my works. My goal is to invoke a FEELING in a person. I don't just want someone to say "that is beautiful" but rather to hear them say "that makes me smile".
